Tap dancing through the feels

Good god, we are in week 3 of what feels like year 7 of the end of our democracy. But let me digress. I am not going to spend my time here vomiting back up the headlines of the day or share my angst with the whole regime. Just know this, I am angsty.

That's not why I am here though. This July 18th I am releasing two albums. I've given them names and they are safely tucked into their corresponding beds. These two don't sleep together, they are vastly different soundscapes but with one message: resilience. One album will tell the story while the other will be the release from that story. As each song explains a moment or collection of moments that shaped me I feel it is good to put to bed what those events were. I can't dwell on them forever and I don't want to relive them either. I just want to tell the story how I know best, through music, and then cast it away to the Universe in hopes that someone else can get something from this. A message of hope? I suppose it's up to the listener.

What's with the abum art?

I am using this painting by Kari Arnett:

I purchased this at one of her shows when she lived in Minneapolis but has since moved on to Nashville I believe. For years I've looked at this picture and wondered what it was saying. It says a lot. I see the universe, I see the eye of God, I see a small beautiful existence. What it says to the music is important though. I have yet to come up with the reasoning why this art called out to the music, or maybe it was the other way around. Regardless of the how, it is here to stay and I have Kari's blessing to use it. So thank you to Kari Arnett for letting me use your art to help tell my story.
